Beliefs

What We Believe

THE BIBLE

We believe that the Bible is God-inspired, trustworthy, and authoritative for the Christian life.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17).

GOD

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal
(I John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; Hebrews 3:7-11).

HUMANITY

We believe that men and women were created in the image of God but, by voluntary disobedience, fell from perfection—thereby imbuing humanity with sinfulness
(Romans 5:12).

THE CHURCH

We believe that followers of Christ have a sacred duty to identify with the visible church of Jesus Christ and should meet regularly with fellow believers
(Hebrews 10:24-25).

SALVATION

We believe that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts
(Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 9:22).

BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that baptism with the Holy Spirit empowers believers, and that the Holy Spirit’s incoming follows the same pattern that is described in the New Testament
(Acts 2:4).

GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Gospel. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters
(Hebrews 2:4; Romans 1:11, 12 :4-8; Ephesians 4:16; 2 Timothy 1:5-16, 4:14; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31, 14:1-40; 1 Peter 4:10).

RESURRECTION

We believe there shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment
(1 Corinthians 15:20-23; John 5:28-29).

NEW CREATION

We, as promised in the Scriptures, look for a new heavens and a new earth wherein righteousness dwells
(2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1).

WATER BAPTISM & COMMUNION

We believe that baptism by immersion in water is an outward sign of an inward work
(Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4).

We believe in commemorating the Lord’s Supper by the symbolic use of bread and fruit of the vine
(1 Corinthians 11:24-25).

NICENE CREED

We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of Heaven and Earth and of all things
visible and invisible.

And in one Lord, Jesus the anointed, the only begotten son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who for us humans and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the holy spirit and the virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the scriptures, and ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He shall come again to judge both the living and the dead. Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver-of-life, who proceeds from the Father, who with
the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets.

And in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the
remission of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to
come.
